Agenda:
  1. Opening:
    • Welcome by President Bina
       
    • 4-way test recited by Mehran
       
  2. Community announcements by members: None
     
  3. Treasurer’s Report:
    • Most of the membership dues have been received. Requesting those who have not yet paid to forward their checks as soon as possible.
       
    • The ClubRunner website will be up and running in a few days.  Next year, an online system will be made available to process payments using credit card via PayPal.
       
    • We have received the first invoice from Rotary International, This will be paid shortly.
       
    • We have received the New York State Charities Bureau Recognition for our Club.  We also have our IRS EIN #.  The request for IRS tax exemption as a Charity was filed in December and it takes about 4 to 5 months to get the determination letter.  Once we have that, donors can claim their donation to the Club for tax purposes.  This does not apply to the dues.
       
    • Treasurer Yeasin Arafat mentioned he was new in this and is learning from our Club Advisor - PDG Mahbub
       
  4. International Committee Report:
    • President Bina reported that International Committee Chair Syed Mahfuz is in Bangladesh and has completed our second International project – distribution of a Computer and 3 sewing machines to the 33 orphan girls at the Monu Mia & Sultana Girls Orphanage in Chandpur.
       
    • A total of $1,100 from our Club members donations was sent to the Rotary Club of Banani who was our local partner there.  The Banani Club also contributed funds towards the purchase of the equipment.  Syed Mahfuz arranged for the Club banner and the T-shirts for the girls.
       
  5. Continuing business:
    • President Bina asked all members to memorize the 4-way test and to conduct themselves in line with the 4 ways.  She also encourages all members to take the free courses in the Rotary Learning Center on rotary.org.
       
  6. New Business:
    • Club Community Service Director Asma Binte Shams has applied for the $250 District grant for new Members.  If approved she will undertake a project in Queens, to procure and distribute winter clothing to needy people.
    • Ashfaque Salim asked if some T-shirts with the Rotary logo and Club Name can be ordered.  President Bina requested him to get some quotations for quantity and prices for discussion and decision at our next meeting..
