Better Together: A Powerful Rotary Experience. What an incredible journey at the Rotary International "Better Together" Zone Summit in Winnipeg, September 16 to 21! With Zones 28 & 32 representing 40 dynamic districts, this session was a true celebration of collaboration, learning, and leadership.  We explored fresh approaches to membership growth, deepened our understanding of the Rotary Foundation, and sharpened our strategies for enhancing public image. The insights shared were not just informative—they were transformative. A heartfelt thank you to Director Chris Etienne, and incoming Director Marty Helman for their Leadership.  Special gratitude to Margie Hass, Hector R. Ortiz, and all the inspiring guest speakers who made the Assistant Governor track so impactful. Special appreciation to RI staff Diana Edwards and Sophie, Dangerfield whose guidance and learning tools empowered us to better serve our clubs, districts, and communities.  Together, we learned. Together, we grew. Together, we are Rotary—changing lives, one act of service at a time.

The insights shared during the Zones 28/32 Summit truly brought Rotary’s Action Plan to life. By focusing on increasing our impact, expanding our reach, enhancing participant engagement, and increasing our ability to adapt, we’re already seeing a shift in how Rotary approaches community service.

During the 4-day event, there were separate learning tracks for District Governors, District Governors-Elect, District Governor-Nominees, Assistant Governors, District International Service Chairs, District Rotary Foundation Chairs, District Membership Chairs, and future leaders. The fresh strategies around membership growth and public image will help us engage more diverse voices, while the deeper understanding of the Rotary Foundation strengthens our ability to fund and deliver sustainable, high-impact projects. Most importantly, this collaborative energy is empowering Assistant Governors and district leaders to align local initiatives more closely with community needs—making service more relevant, inclusive, and future-focused.

These changes aren’t just ideas—they're action steps that will help Rotary evolve while staying true to our mission. Exciting times ahead!

A highlight of the event was the presence of RI's President-Elect Olayinka Hakeem Babalola, who asked Rotarians to pay close attention to Rotary's vision statement and start with the last part - making a change in ourselves.  This, he said, will create lasting changes in our communities and spread to creating change across the globe.
